Written Pattern for the Mushroom Cat Hat:

Supplies:

Yarn: any color of worsted/Standard 4 weight

       I used:

Red Heart: Burn Orange- 20 yards

Crochet Hook(s):

 G (4.00 mm) hook 

Other Supplies:

Scissors, Tapestry needle, Stitch markers, poly-fil (stuffing),

2 Safety eyes (two- 6mm to 10mm, or whatever you would like for eyes)

Gauge swatch:

With G (4.00mm) hook and worsted (4) weight 100% acrylic yarn

Ch 17, Row 1: in 2nd bb from hook sc 16, Row 2 – 16: ch 1, turn, sc 16

Measures: 4” x 4”

Measurements of Sunshine Octopus if Gauge is Met:

5” Wide

2” Tall

 

Notes:

-It can be beneficial to look through entire pattern before starting.

-The pattern is written in standard US terminology and written working right-handed

- 2st = increase stitch, if inc is easier for you to follow than 2st you can make notes throughout the pattern before starting.

            Exp- sc 2, 2sc, sc 2 = sc 2, inc, sc 2

- Rnds are worked continuous, unless noted to join

-slst to join, is a slst that is pulled tight so it disappears, it is more of a knot than a stitch


Mini Sunshine Octopus: Crochet Pattern

Body:

Red Heart: Burn Orange- 20 yards

G (4.00 mm) hook

 

Rnd 1: sc 8 in MR (8)

Rnd 2: [2sc]x8 (16)

Rnd 3: [sc 1, 2sc]x8 (24)

Rnd 4-8: sc 24 (24)

Rnd 9: [sc2tog, sc 1]x8 (16)

If using safety eyes, add the eyes between Rnds 6 & 7 – 3 to 4 sts apart. 

Tentacles:

Rnd 10: [FLO-sc 1, FLO-2sc]x8 (24)

Rnd 11: Repeat 8 times around to create the 8 tentacles

Row 11a: FLO-sc 3 (base of one tentacle) (3)

Note: Row 11a doesn’t have to be done FLO but makes the tentacles more pronounced if done FLO

Row 11b: ch 1, turn, sc 3 (3)

Row 11c: ch 1, turn, sc 1, sc2tog (2)

Row 11d: ch 1, turn, sc 2 (2)

Row 11e: turn, slst, picot, slst (2 + picot)

Row 11f: (working back down the rows created in the side bar of the sts) ch 1, sk 1, slst 3 (4)

On 8th tentacle slst into Rnd 10 st/base of 1st sc of 1st tentacle

Note: if you want a cleaner look to your tentacles you can slst all the way around each tentacle before starting Rnd 12.

Rnd 12: ch 2, slst into BLO of Rnd 9, [BLO-sc 2, BLO-sc2tog]x8 (12)

Add stuffing

Rnd 13: [sc2tog]x6 (6)

Leave a tail to sew hole closed. Cut and weave tail through back loops of Rnd 13, pull tight to close hole, tie, & weave in ends
